Neely and John met August 4th 2010 at Nicole's birthday party. They stayed after everybody left to play pool. Despite John's best efforts Neely won. John, while afraid of Neely's awesome pool skills, managed to work up the courage to get Neely's number. Thus began a great adventure.

On August 4th, 2011 while they were at dinner celebrating one year together a friend arranged a table, roses, candles, and chocolate cake in John's living room. When the couple arrived John took Neely's hands and backed into the living room with a giant grin on his face. John, while still afraid of Neely's awesome skills*, managed to work up the courage to propose. Neely, while surprised, accepted, then wept and then had to sit down. She eventually ate her cake.
